Titus 2 Woman

Came across this little "mini-devotional" this morning in my archives.  I jotted down these notes in November of 2007, but they are fresh and new just like God's Word for October of 2010!

I am not a Titus 2 woman, sorry. Maybe you've heard of them? I love the book of Titus. But there's just something a little fishy about some of the thinking behind calling yourself after a particular Bible passage. After all aren't we to take the whole Word and live by it - in other words weighing one passage against another and learning from them all?  Hope you understand my thought processes here. I was reading yesterday morning and jotted down these points. I think I might be more like a Philippians 4:12-21 person! Get your Bible out and follow along.

2006 (more or less)

  • First of all, I'm not perfect and don't claim to know it all.
  • I have decided to leave the past behind although I do go over past events from time to time to not forget how far I've come and to remember not to repeat past mistakes.
  • I'm not alone. Christ is right here with me as my strong arm having already "taken hold" for me.
  • I'm striving on to what is now and ahead.
  • I'm going to get a prize for all my hard work!
  • I'm mature, now, and see things much differently than I did even 10 years ago and even 20 years ago.
  • I'm looking for others to join the team.
  • I'm trying to be a good example to those around me, especially younger women and to my sons in the Christian walk.
  • I do have enemies, Satan being #1. But, I know their destiny!
  • And I know mine! My goal is heaven!

Help me, God, to be a good example. Help me not to sin and not to falter in the goal to "press on toward the prize."

Philippians 4:12 -20
I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.  Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.  For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.  Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.  Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
