Too Fast...

Look how small he is!  11/2007

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.  Stacia Tauscher

While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.
Angela Schwindt

Last night my 11 year old and I waited on the boat for the rest of the gang to finish up their work so we could head back to the mainland.  We sat close together and watched all the different kinds of bugs that were attracted to the light we had figured out how to turn on.  We enjoyed the long-legged wasp that did an aerial dance all around the long florescent tube.  We counted all the different kinds of flies and made silly comments about why they were so happy to fly around the light.

Then we went on the back of the boat and laid down with our heads close together and looked for constellations.  We found Orion and his belt.  We even saw his knife hanging down.  We could clearly see the Milky Way and found the Southern Cross.  And for a while, we just laid quietly pausing the moment in time for just a little longer, but it was too fast.  The moment was over and gone as we heard the others coming down the beach.

Too fast they grow up and too fast they go their way.  May each one go his way with a few frozen moment memories of bugs and stars.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
