My Promise Verse
Job 23:10
But he knoweth the way that I take:
But he knoweth the way that I take:
when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
This verse has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. When I was a high school senior at a Christian school in Virginia, Job 23:10 was chosen as our class theme verse. At our graduation commencement, the valedictorian and saludatorian in their addresses that day divided the verse in its two natural parts as a basis for the core of each one's address. I was the salutatorian of my senior class that year. I chose to speak of how God would one day reward our faithfulness and thus, we should always strive to remain true.
For many years though, the first part of the verse haunted me in a way. As a missionary especially when times were lonely or difficult, I assumed it was my "trial" or "test," and as such must be accepted in all humility. As I have grown older, I have begun to look more toward the pearly gates and have reconsidered the thrust of this verse. Yes, we suffer from time to time. No, this world will not get any better, but we have a HOPE and a FUTURE that makes our sojourn here on earth worth it all. Christ gives us that hope and peace today, not just tomorrow. He gives the hope that we need for each day to have that silver lining or golden pot at the end of the rainbow daily. We must trust that God knows our predicaments and in always in control. We must rest assured in the horrible times of this life that it is all just temporary! We're just a-passing through! We will make it through knowing that we shall see Him face to face.
As I begin on this literary journey, I plan to first publish some old work from the archives of my files. As time allows I will also be writing new articles, poems and devotionals to share here for your enjoyment and helpful criticism. Please make sure you leave a comment to let me know that you've stopped by!
I'm glad I could stop by and maybe I'll be the first to post a comment.Good to hear from you..
ReplyDeleteLooks good Michele! I look forward to seeing what good things you have to share with us in the coming days. I'm sure you have many life experiences both here in Brazil and back home that will be a help to me.
