Peniel Student Report - December 2025

The last of our long run of Bible institute students from the church in Sobradinho has graduated - Adrielly Santos.  She is on the far right in a yellow dress.  Pray as she considers what God would have of her for the new phase of her life. If you would like to have a PDF copy of this letter for your church missions bulletin board, just send me a message or comment on this post.

Peniel Student Report: April 2025

Byron and I continue to praise the Lord for the young people from Sobradinho that have gone to the Peniel Bible Institute.  Each one has returned well-trained in all aspects of ministry and missions. Adrielly Santos may be the last of the bumper crop that God gave.  We pray for more men and women to be called to study and serve.  And we look forward to Adrielly's return to assist us in the work later this year. This letter is available in PDF format.  If you would like to have a copy for your church bulletin board, send a message or comment on this post.

Graduation: Peniel Bible Institute

In the wee hours of the morning on December 1, 2023 Byron and I left the land of goats and no rain to head down to state of Minas Gerais where all the fields are green. The reason for our trip was to attend the graduation ceremonies at the Peniel Bible Institute where young people from Sobradinho have been studying over the past few years.   The weekend was full of joy and excitement to participate in this important moment. Pedro Henrique, Bruno and Maria Luiza finished the three year course with flying colors and much applause.  I was given the honor to accompany Pedro as a representative of his family.  Little baby Samuel was carried by Bruno as he and Maria Luiza walked in together.  It was a moment I will not long forget. One of the guest speakers had each graduate stand with their Bibles in hand to hear his charge.  He promptly asked each one to raise the Word of God with their arms outstretched.  As he spoke, of course, arms began to sag. ...

Report from Pedro Henrique

It's the beginning of the second semester already.  Now I am more used to the routine.  In this first module, I learned about the part two of the panorama that runs from Romans to Revelation. I also had Portuguese 2, a very important subject.  If you manage your language well, you will be able to speak and communicate the message of the good news of the Gospel.  I also had Hermeneutics this time, the study of the word of God, How to study with a method called OIA (observe, interpret and apply) was the best subject for me in this first module of the second semester.  I also enjoyed a great study of various sects and heresies. My practical work assignments in the afternoon are amazing. Painting, sweeping, cooking, cleaning, all my jobs are amazing and have taught me much, especially those in which I was less involved previously.  We have leisure time on Tuesday afternoons, which is usually time for soccer. Unfortunately, I broke my foot about a week ag...

Report from Bruno Holanda

Hi, here at Peniel, this second semester has been very fruitful. This time I managed to organize my time better.  I made an agenda, and I am dedicating myself more to my subjects, and I am managing to do other studies as well, which are both personal and topics in which I am interested. The place I most like to stay is the library because I know that one day I will no longer have the opportunity to be here studying and having access to this range of information and books. God has been supplying monthly school bill needs, although I am not receiving many extra funds for personal needs.   I'm looking forward to my wedding that will be in December.  I cannot fail to comment on that!  It is very important for all to have an idea of what is to come for me, which is a family that wants to surrender to God to take the Gospel to others. Thank you so much for your prayers, and may God bless each one of you.
