Finding a Happy Place

Have you lost your happy place in life? Seems that life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes the downs all get strung together and we lose our hope and peace.

This weekend hubby and I needed to get a new snapshot for our "business" cards {prayer cards}. So out back we went with our eldest son to take some pics. After several attempts we were able to get a good photo and soon enough we will have a new card.

So many little things happen in any given day to bring a person down. One of the best ways to stay "UP" is to remember to enjoy the little moments and smile as often as possible. All the decisions and stresses of furlough can pile up if we let them. I'm working hard to keep smiling and to keep happy.

This weekend we had our first scheduled speaking engagement. I was glad it was at a church only minutes away. We had a lovely time with the pastor and his wife at lunch after the service and still got home in time for a little Sunday nap and for our boys to all go to a Super Bowl party with the church where we are attending's youth group.

The Big Orange Cat

Do you boys remember that big orange cat at the mission house in North Carolina? That was a special day for me. I don't have a new story for this Friday. I've had a long week, but my mind kept going back to that cat this week as I thought about what I would post for you boys today. My Promise Verse

Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. This verse has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. When I was a high school senior at a Christian school in Virginia, Job 23:10 was chosen as our class theme verse. At our graduation commencement, the valedictorian and saludatorian in their addresses that day divided the verse in its two natural parts as a basis for the core of each one's address. Catching Canoes with Tennis Shoes

For years we have prayed for a man to come along side Byron and help him with the work of the boat and the camp. Recently it seemed that God had, in a unique way, answered those prayers. Then suddenly everything was turned upside down this week, and I began to wonder if I would have to start "catching canoes with tennis shoes" again!
