Don't Rock the Boat!

In 2012 we took a trip with a geologist all around the big Sobradinho Lake to do some research work about erosion for the big electric company.  Uncle Byron actually made a couple of trips with the man, but this trip was with our whole family.  We slept and ate on the boat for a week.

We even took the boys' sand rail/dune buggy so they could run around some during the day.  We took kayaks and a canoe as well.  AH, and lots of food.

This was the trip when I lost our big red water jug in the lake.  You can read about that on my other blog sometime if you like.
I wrote an epic poem about it!

On this trip on the way home we experienced the biggest waves we had ever seen while out on the lake.  The boat was rocking side ways so much that it seemed the sand rail tied on the back deck of the boat would end up at the bottom of the sea.  The video is earlier during the day.   The waves got bigger after dark!

Things are always bigger, "badder," and more scarier after dark.  When your Daddy and I were little, your father was super afraid of things under his bed or in the closet at night.

The night of our big, bad boat ride with the boat going side ways touching the water with the sides, I thought we were all going to die, for sure.

I prayed and prayed.  Uncle Byron was scared, too, but he laughed and carried on so that it eased our fears.

Once when the boat was full of campers and we had some big waves hitting the front of the boat, Uncle Byron made a joke that there was a special spring under the boat that he would pop open to give the kids a good squeal.  Some kids believed it!  Whenever he hit a wave, there would be a loud SLAP of the water on  the hull.  When that happened Uncle Byron would shout - Wooo Hoo!  All the kids on board would laugh and laugh and shout - Do It Again!  Of course some of the adults were scared stiff!

Don't be afraid of the dark!  Laugh and Have a good time!

Isaiah 50:10
Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.
