Birthday Dream

Yes, it's my birthday. I am 45 wonderful years old today. I feel healthier than ever and happier than ever....

Today I am working to fulfill a little dream. Since coming to this little town of ours in the middle of nowhere Brazil, I have been out of the women's ministry loop. Out of touch, far from others and with no extra time to dedicate to another "job" in my busy life. Before we came to Bahia, I was heavily involved with women's ministries in my church, city and state. I felt that with our move and the need to homeschool my children, this part of my work had to be left. And so I did.

Tonight I am hosting my own birthday party at our little church. I have invited only ladies. I invited the ladies that regularly attend and some on the periphery as well as some pastor's wives from a nearby town. It will be the first of what I hope to be more meetings. My goal tonight is to present the WHY of having regular meetings just for women and to CELEBRATE my birthday, of course! If the ladies so desire we will decide tonight when, how and what will be the purpose of our ladies' group.

I am so super happy to have the support of many friends in prayer for tonight's party meeting and to have the presence of our several good ones at the meeting tonight. Women together can accomplish so much in this world. To have great friends there tonight will be a DOUBLE or triple blessing!

Think of me as I have prepared an inspirational message and ideas for how we can best use our time together in the future for learning and encourage along life's journey and in Christian growth.

    I'll try this again. I tried to comment on Sat. to wish you a happy b-day, but a glitch caused the comment to disappear!

    I hope you had a great one with the ladies that came to the special meeting and celebration of your speacial day.

    You have been a great sister-in-law to me and I count it a blessing to call you my sis-in-love. I am glad that you came up with that name :)

    P.S. I am enjoying the music on the blog, but I must say that the first time I heard the sounds from Bahia I was startled. I didn't know anything had been added, and it took a few seconds to find out where it was coming from :)

My Promise Verse

Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take:  when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. This verse has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. When I was a high school senior at a Christian school in Virginia, Job 23:10 was chosen as our class theme verse. At our graduation commencement, the valedictorian and saludatorian in their addresses that day divided the verse in its two natural parts as a basis for the core of each one's address. I was the salutatorian of my senior class that year.  I chose to speak of how God would one day reward our faithfulness and thus, we should always strive to remain true. Catching Canoes with Tennis Shoes

This was originally posted on my old Yahoo!360 blog on November 8, 2006.  Today is a good day to re-post it!  For years we have prayed for a man to come along side Byron and help him with the work of the boat and the camp.  Recently it seemed that God had, in a unique way, answered those prayers.  Then suddenly everything was turned upside down this week, and I began to wonder if I would have to start "catching canoes with tennis shoes" again!  But our God is indeed an Awesome God and knows all things.  Read on and a little later I'll tell the rest of the story with our recent test of patience and prayer in the area of the camp and help for our work here in Sobradinho.
